This note by Athetos is the reason why the Variants attack Trace. Also, possibly the reason why some Variants attack other Variants is because, maybe they think the Variant they're attacking is Trace, since after all, every Variant looked similar to Trace at one point and had similar genetic composition. So maybe they're attacking each other in their own confusion.
