A9 and A3 seem to refer to clones of Athetos—A3 being the Telal creature that we see in-game. Telal (and several others) are clones of Athetos that he modified and experimented on, after which they become somewhat confused. Thus
A3: I AM ATHETOS
A9: But you just said you are "Telal"?
A9 is a clone that was not experimented on and was thus more coherent during the recorded conversation. A9 is trying to understand the effects of A3's transformation. Also, the final exchange is significant, as it is reflected during the Halucination sequence when Trace sees himself as a demon and attacks himself (in a way). At some points during the game, the bosses refer to Trace as a demon, so apparently they are struggling to separate friend from foe, in the same way Trace did during his Hallucination.
A9: Do you remember attacking me?
A3: TELAL ATTACK ... DEMON
