Something I just noticed (and it made me think of the above reply):

In the Note titled "The Land of Civilized Kings", the author says "How did we learn to fear such things? Human nature."

Wait... HUMAN nature? Why not Sudran nature? Odd. Or maybe this is meant to be a non-literal translation of an idiom. The Note was written in Sudran after all.
