I think Sudra is definitely a real place. If anything, the Earth that Trace "returned to" must be a sort of dream world algorithm made by Veruska. It all fits with the Axiom 1 Note. Trace is a clone of a much younger Athetos created by the Rusalki, so the body of the clone Trace never actually experienced the explosion from the lab. The explosion from the lab and all of his memories of Earth are just memories of Athetos; Trace thinks he experienced them in real life, but in reality he didn't.
